What Can Be Done To Brighten Your Smile?

One of the most common questions we hear is how can I brighten my smile. Naturally, teeth are not a white colour. Some people’s teeth may be naturally whiter than others, but all in all, teeth are naturally darker than white. However, this doesn’t mean there isn’t ways to help brighten up your smile. One thing to look at would be your lifestyle. If you drink dark drinks such as coffee, tea, red wines etc or smoke on a regular basis, these are all known to stain and discolour teeth over time.

The first step would be to evaluate your lifestyle and see if there are any changes you can make and if they are maintainable for the future.
Lifestyle changes are an important factor to weigh in, because if you decide to go down the whitening route, for the best results there are certain things (food & drink) to be avoided during the whitening process (and to be maintained once the whitening as well – if possible).
Depending on your oral hygiene, it may be recommended that you have a scale and polish and maybe even an airflow jet polish prior to the whitening.

Scale and polishes are recommended every 6 months to help maintain your oral hygiene (tackle the build up of bacteria and plaque), and the airflow can be used to tackle any stubborn stains (similar to a jet car wash but for your teeth). These may be advised prior to any whitening as it will set your teeth up to be nicely lifted with the whitening option of your choice.

We offer a few different whitening treatments to help brighten your smile. To identify the most suitable option for you, we are happy to arrange a free consultation where we will go through the most suitable options for you.
