Do You Want A Whiter Brighter Smile?

What Is Internal Teeth Whitening?

Internal teeth whitening is a technique that can be used on the front teeth to whiten them internally. This is used on teeth that have had a root canal, as they will often look a darker colour than your other teeth, and will stand out. We will first asses your teeth to see if you are suitable for this treatment. If you are and are happy to proceed, at the next appointment a small hole will be made towards the back of the tooth which will expose the root filling. We will then carefully place the whitening gel and use a white composite material to close the hole.

Do I Need Internal Whitening?

When you have a root canal the dead nerve inside the tooth will of been removed. When this happens the tooth will of devitalised and this is natural for them to look darker than otherwise healthy teeth. When compared to healthy teeth it can make the darker tooth stand out even more.

Using internal whitening can really compliment the rest of your smile and can also be used in conjunction with our more traditional whitening systems to provide the most optimum results.

How Often Will I Need To Have My Tooth Internally Whitened?

This will vary from patient to patient as it does depend on what shade the adjacent teeth are. To get to the desired shade it could take a couple of sessions. We offer free consultations so we can asses your teeth and discuss what we are able to do for you, and how long it will take to achieve.

What Happens When We Reach The Optimum Shade?

When we get to the shade of tooth that both the dentist and the patient are happy with, we will then seal up the hole with a permanent white filling.

If we are unable to get the exact match as your other teeth, we will discuss other suitable options.
