Why Replace Your Veneers

Initially when you have new veneers made they will look very aesthetically pleasing and will really compliment your smile. If you had porcelain over composite veneers you will find that they fare even better. Veneers can be made out of a strong durable material which can last for many years. They are however also dictated by your lifestyle and the exact length of time they will last can inevitability vary. For example, if you play a lot of contact sport they are at risk of being chipped or in the worse case scenario, broken.

The other factors that can also have an affect are drinking alcohol, fizzy pop (high sugar content), which overtime can cause the bond between the veneer and tooth to weaken and subsequently fall off. Your habits can also play a part, so if you are a tooth grinder, nail biter, or even chewing items such as lids of pens can cause the veneer to be worn down. The worse thing to do and should never be done with natural teeth or veneers, are to open packets or bottles as they are major culprits in damaging teeth.

Porcelain veneers can have a long life span but this can be increased with good care and attention.

How The Veneer Is Removed?

To remove a veneer it is a very straight forward and simple process. We will carefully remove the bonding agent so the veneer can easily come off. Your teeth may need to be slightly prepared for a new veneer to be put on, but we would discuss this in full with you. Impressions will be taken of your teeth so the new veneers can be fabricated. In-between having the old veneer taken off and getting the new veneers, we will provide you with a temporary solution so it doesn’t impact on your smile.

Are New Veneers Suitable?

Every patient we see is unique and we will asses them on an individual basis to see which treatment will be the most suitable for them. We will always discuss your case in full prior to going ahead with treatment.
