What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium or ceramic screws that will act as the new root of a new replacement tooth. The implants will integrate with your jawbone that will not only provide you with stability, but it can also stop the affects of bone resorption (bone loss) and have a healthy impact on bone growth.

The dental implants are in effect the new root of a missing tooth. This new root will then securely anchor down a porcelain crown (visible part of the tooth) to complete your whole tooth. This tooth will then look and function as if it was one of your own teeth.

How Safe Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are very safe when they are completed by a highly trained professional, who takes the time to plan the case carefully to ensure the very best result is achieved for the patient.
Our resident implant dentist is Dr Faresh Desai. He is committed to his ongoing personal development towards implants, and as a result, has completed many different implant cases ranging from single to multiple implants, upper & lower arches of teeth replacement, bone graft cases etc.
Implants do require a high level of skill as it encompasses precision and a thorough knowledge of placing implants. Preparing to place an implant is just as important as placing the implant, as being fully prepared and organised allows Dr Desai to ensure the implant is placed at the perfect angle for the best result.
An important part of implant cases is the full case assessment. At this stage we will take the required examination, X-rays and scans to ensure that we have the correct information to plan the detailed placement of the implants.

At the full case assessment we will be looking at:

Bone density levels – having sufficient bone level is very important for the success of the implant. A bone graft may be required if it is identified that you do not have a sufficient level of bone.
The best angle to place the implants – This will depend on where your current roots are based.
If you are healthy & fit to have the implants.
