What Are Clear Retainers?

A retainer is a type of device that is needed once your teeth have been successfully straightened by a brace. Modern day retainers can be made out of a plastic or metal material. Their main purpose is to help preserve the final resting place of your teeth, to ensure they do not suffer an orthodontic relapse (when your teeth revert to their original positions).
To ensure you protect your newly straight teeth, it is advised that retainers are worn for the majority of the time. The retainers we are able to offer include:

Bonded retainers
Removable retainers
Vivera Retainers
bonded-retainers

What Are Bonded Retainers?

Bonded retainers are a fixed option that are bonded to the backs of your teeth. We recommend going for the bonded option as it takes away the risk factor of being tempted to taking your retainers out for a long period of time. Oral hygiene can still be kept up when having the bonded retainers. We always recommend that the bonded retainer is on in-definitely so it can help avoid an orthodontic relapse.

What Are Removable retainers?

These retainers as suggested, are a removable option. This allows for a much easier oral hygiene routine, as you can easily take them out to brush and floss. However, even though they are removable, we do recommend that you wear them for the majority of the day.
There are a number of removable retainers available:

Hawley retainer
Vacuum formed retainer
Thermo formed retainer

How Much Are Retainers?

As part of our orthodontic treatment package, retainers will be included in the cost of treatment (an additional charge is applicable for Vivera retainers). If you have had braces elsewhere and you are in need of a new retainer, we are able to offer these as well. Please do not hesitate to call us today for more information.
