What Are Fixed Braces?

The most common type of braces used in dentistry are fixed braces and they are also the most effective orthodontic system. Often referred to as “fixed appliances” or “train tracks” they are brackets fixed to each tooth with a thin wire running through them. Fixed braces can only be removed by your orthodontist and they work by gradually moving your teeth into the desired position. We offer both metal and ceramic (tooth coloured) fixed braces at the practice.

How Much Time Does it Take to Complete the Treatment?

The time required to complete orthodontic treatment with fixed braces varies but on average it will take between 12 to 24 months. During this time, you will need to attend regular appointments with the orthodontist so they can make necessary adjustments and check the progress of your treatment.

Would recommend 110%. I found the clinic based on the proximity to my house and Google reviews. Extremely good experience (especially considering you’re going to the dentist office!). I was booked for an emergency visit with Dr Jesal Savania, whom I would highly recommend. I had a wisdom tooth removal, which I didn’t expect to happen on the day of the visit. I had a similar procedure done 10 years ago, which was very painful and traumatic. Dr Savania is a compassionate, professional dentist who calmed me down and he did the procedure in record time, with absolutely no pain. I came back to Dr Savania a few weeks after for a general check up – he is probably the best dentist I have been too and will definitely go back.

I had a crown prep done today at Ascent and I can’t say enough good things. Didn’t even feel the injection to numb my mouth and the whole team made me feel at ease and calmed any nerves I had.
