Qualified from University of Bristol in 1993, FDS with Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh

Following the usual four and a half years of training as undergraduate at Bristol University Dental School Simon graduated in 1993.

He then went onto undertake further post-graduate training over the subsequent four years encompassing recognised training posts in general professional training in Southport and Liverpool Dental Hospital.

Further training in Oral Surgery was gained through posts within the specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, notably at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Russells Hall Hospital and Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital.

Simon obtained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. He has been continuously registered on the UK General Dental Council specialist list for Oral Surgery since 2002.

Simon says his work is overwhelmingly chair-side clinical activity. Alongside working within the Ascent team Simon also has current appointments with the Birmingham Dental Hospital and the University of Birmingham Dental School. He is regularly involved in the clinical supervision of both undergraduate dental students and postgraduate dentists in training.

Simon is a member of the core examiners for the Licence in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His routine practice at Ascent Dental Care includes a wide spectrum of Oral surgery undertaken with Local Anaesthetic and Intravenous Sedation. Simon also has a special interest in the management of Temporo-mandibular dysfunction, working alongside colleagues in Maxillo-facial surgery often employing Botulinum toxin. Simon accepts referrals from other local Dentists for both oral surgery.

I contacted Ascent Dental Care after my general dentist advised me that I needed root canal treatment, which they would be unable to carry out. I was looked after by Jesal, who put root canal fillings into 3 of my teeth, which was not a straightforward procedure, as they were crowned front teeth, and 2 of the crowns were some 25 years old. I can only say that he did an excellent job. He explained everything very thoroughly to me beforehand, and I was truly amazed at how little discomfort I felt when the work carried out. He is a really nice guy, who puts you totally at ease, and the nurses, reception and admin staff are all very friendly, polite and efficient.

I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent dental practice.

If like me you have had bad experiences in the past then this is the place to come to.I have been coming here now for two years to finally get the smile i am proud of.I had root canals carried out by Dr Jessal his skill and knowledge is amazing he is clearly at the very top of his profession,i never suffered any pain during or after and returned back to work that same day i can not thank him enough.

A short time after it was time for my crown work to begin and this was carried out by Dr Gursh who whitened my teeth and sorted out my new crowns which look so natural against my other teeth and a perfect fit first time,another top professional who cares and is passionate about getting that perfect smile, you cannot tell they are crowns amazing.

Now after my treatment i return to the hygienist Anita who keeps my teeth looking amazing.
I cannot thank all the staff that work here enough they make a perfect team and they really do care.
