What Are Fillings?

Fillings are a very common form of dental treatment. They are used to fill up cavities in your teeth to prevent any infection working their way deeper into the tooth’s root. Cavities can occur over time and can happen at a faster rate depending on your lifestyle (eating lots of sugary foods and drinking sugar rich drinks). Traditionally these fillings were made out of a silver amalgam material but in modern dentistry we now steer away from these, and head down the white composite route.

Is Pain a Good Indication To Get The Filling Done?

If you have been advised that you require a filling, it is always in your best interest to get the filling done rather than waiting till you start to feel discomfort. Pain is not often the first sign when it comes to problems related to your dental health and can often mean issues have moved to the next stage if there is an associated pain. When pain does occur it may mean that there could be additional work required to treat you. It will be more cost effective and can help protect your teeth for longer by treating issues as they occur.

This patient had a large silver metal filling which created a dark shadow on the outside of the tooth. This was replaced with a white filling to improve the strength and aesthetics of this tooth.

This patient came to us with a failing silver filling. Alongside this they were also unhappy with the appearence of the filling. It was replaced with a white filling material to restore the tooth back to health and improve the cosmetic look of the tooth.

If you have a large cavity in your tooth or teeth the white fillings may not be suitable and you may require a ceramic inlay.

A short time after it was time for my crown work to begin and this was carried out by Dr Gursh who whitened my teeth and sorted out my new crowns which look so natural against my other teeth and a perfect fit first time,another top professional who cares and is passionate about getting that perfect smile, you cannot tell they are crowns amazing.

Now after my treatment i return to the hygienist Anita who keeps my teeth looking amazing.

I had been advised by my previous dentist that implants were probably not an option for me after losing several teeth. I decided to pursue looking for an implant specialist in the Tamworth area where I now lived. Finding Ascent and reading the very positive reviews I arranged a free consultation with Faresh. After a very informative discussion a treatment plan was put together for me detailing all the options available.

I was delighted to know that in fact I was suitable for implants and made a decision to go ahead. I was guided by Faresh and his team as to what would happen at each stage of my treatment plan. My implant journey began in December 2020 during Covid times and everyone at the practice were meticulous with cleanliness procedures providing reassurance to the patients.

It is now April 2021 and my implants are in and looking and feeling AMAZING!! I can now smile once again with pride and confidence. It is one of the best things that I have done and thank Faresh and his exceptional team for the kindness care and guidance that I received.
