What Are Wisdom Teeth?
Wisdom teeth are teeth that are located at the back of the mouth, at the end of the rows on both upper and lower teeth. You will tend to have 4 wisdom teeth but there have been cases of having more or less. These teeth are known medically as the third molars. You will find the wisdom teeth are the last of your teeth to come through, and this can happen between the ages of 17-25 (but can happen at younger ages and older too).
When the wisdom teeth start to come through you should have the other 28 teeth through. By the time this happens, if you still have the other 28 teeth, there is a chance there may be complications as mouths are not always able to accommodate all 32 teeth any more.
When wisdom teeth are erupting they can easily be obstructed (by other teeth) if there is a lack of space in the mouth. The term for these is: impacted wisdom teeth.
Would recommend 110%. I found the clinic based on the proximity to my house and Google reviews. Extremely good experience (especially considering you’re going to the dentist office!). I was booked for an emergency visit with Dr Jesal Savania, whom I would highly recommend. I had a wisdom tooth removal, which I didn’t expect to happen on the day of the visit. I had a similar procedure done 10 years ago, which was very painful and traumatic. Dr Savania is a compassionate, professional dentist who calmed me down and he did the procedure in record time, with absolutely no pain. I came back to Dr Savania a few weeks after for a general check up – he is probably the best dentist I have been too and will definitely go back.
What Happens If They Are Impacted?
If your wisdom teeth do become impacted, they can cause problems with your health, which will mean they will need to be extracted. In some case though, impacted wisdom teeth may not need to be extracted. There are four types of impacted wisdom teeth:
Vertical Impaction
If the tooth grows straight down and hits the next tooth.
Angular (mesial) Impaction
(Mesial) – It grows at an angle facing towards the front of your mouth.
Horizontal Impaction
The tooth grows out horizontally and impacts the next tooth’s root.
Distal Impaction
It grows out away from the adjacent tooth and ends up in the wrong position.

Five-Star
Rated Care
4.8 of 5 based on over 1000 reviews across all Ascent Dental Clinics
I had been advised by my previous dentist that implants were probably not an option for me after losing several teeth. I decided to pursue looking for an implant specialist in the Tamworth area where I now lived. Finding Ascent and reading the very positive reviews I arranged a free consultation with Faresh. After a very informative discussion a treatment plan was put together for me detailing all the options available.
I was delighted to know that in fact I was suitable for implants and made a decision to go ahead. I was guided by Faresh and his team as to what would happen at each stage of my treatment plan. My implant journey began in December 2020 during Covid times and everyone at the practice were meticulous with cleanliness procedures providing reassurance to the patients.
It is now April 2021 and my implants are in and looking and feeling AMAZING!! I can now smile once again with pride and confidence. It is one of the best things that I have done and thank Faresh and his exceptional team for the kindness care and guidance that I received.
THANK YOU.

A great dental practise. My retainers broke and within 30 minutes I had my retainer replaced. Very much appreciated due to going abroad next day.
I recently had an urgent dental issue and turned to Ascent Dental Practice for the first time. I was impressed by their swift response in accommodating me. From the welcoming reception team to the skilled dentists, I was truly impressed by the outstanding service. After completing my pre-paid treatment with my current NHS dentist, I am seriously considering switching to Ascent without hesitation. A definite 10/10 in my book!

My biggest fear – the dentist chair. After 4 attempts to have a filling i finally found a dentist who could actually make me feel relaxed enough to go through with it. Jas (the dentist) really was patient and amazing! Would never go anywhere else. Really do give 10/10 for all staff!
Visited this practice as an emergency needing a tooth extraction ( which my own dentist said they couldn’t do) saw Laura who made me feel at ease and tooth was extracted with in 20 mins at half the price I was quoted from my own dental practice.. cannot praise this practice enough for there professionalism and caring attitude. Would definately advise and recommend this practice
I initially started with having the bottom teeth straightened. I was so pleased with the work and professional experience I rebooked and have had all my veneers replaced. I’m extremely happy with the way they look and would highly recommend this practice to anyone requiring dental treatment or cosmetic work.
