Do 6 Month Smiles Really Work That Quick?

Unlike traditional fixed braces, 6 month smiles have been developed as a cosmetic brace that works differently to how other systems work. Traditional systems works by correcting the crowns of the teeth (visible parts) and the roots as well – which can take between 1-2 years to straighten. In some cases, there may be no medical need for the roots of your teeth to be corrected as well. 6 month smiles works on the principle of only correcting the visible parts of the teeth, so your smile is cosmetically straightened. Your teeth will look straight, and will have been done in a much quicker time frame.

We do find this to be a very popular system with many of our patients, as it allows for quick and effective straightening, at a lower cost than more traditional systems. The braces are made out of a strong ceramic material and the brackets are clear to make it more discrete than metal brackets.

The braces are not 100% invisible but they are a lot more discrete than systems that uses metal. We do offer alternatives such as lingual braces which are 100% invisible, as they are placed on the backs of the teeth. We do also offer such options as invisalign which are a clear removable aligner system (more discrete than 6 month smiles, but take longer to treat).
