The main difference between 6 month smiles and other systems, such as, damon braces, is down to how the brace mechanically functions.
Traditional braces work on the principle of correcting the roots of the teeth and the crowns (visible parts). What this leads to is longer treatment times for wearing traditional braces. 6 month smiles have been cleverly designed to just focus on straightening the crowns part of the teeth, for a more cosmetic treatment. In certain cases there may be no specific need for the roots of the teeth to be straight and in these cases the 6 month smiles may be ideal.
